Slobodan Santrec
Appointed caretaker boss of the senior side in October 1992 and was incredibly - only given the job permanently in June 1995 when the troubles had come to an end. Santrec was a prolific striker in the domestic leagues during the 1960s and 1970s, piling up the goals for Zemun, Partizan Belgrade and OFK Belgrade. While at OFK he was the Yugoslav League's top scorer in four separate seasons and, with 236 domestic goals to his name, he remains his country's all-time top marksman. Santrec made his international debut in June 1966 against Bulgaria and won a total of eight caps.

First-choice keeper. Tipped for a move abroad after the World Cup.

Goran Djorovic
Likely first-choice left back who can also play in the centre of defence. Quick, strong and composed.

Miroslav Djukic
Experienced central defender who will start in France.

Slobodan Komljenovic
Capable performer who made the final 22 because he's versatile enough to play full back, sweeper, as a marker or on the right of midfield.

Sinisa Mihajlovic
Cultured defender who was converted from midfield to sweeper by Sven Goran Eriksson at Sampdoria. Free-kick expert who won the European Cup with Red Star Belgrade in 1991.

Zoran Mirkovic
Current first choice in their problem right back position although he plays in central defence for his club.

Branko Brnovic
Hard-working dynamo who made his international debut in 1991 and is still a first-teamer.

Ljubinko Drulovic
Clever winger who has starred for Porto since 1993. Will probably be among the substitutes.

Dejan Govedarica
Usually used as a substitute by Santrec - and often makes an impact. Expect him to be thrown on if things are going pear-shaped.

Slavisa Jokanovic A key man who pulls the strings in central midfield. Was Yugoslavia's representative in the All-Star match which preceded the World Cup draw in Marseille last December.

Vladimir Jugovic
A class act on the left. Jugovic is a hard-working, tough-tackling, sharp-shooting midfielder who won the European Cup with Red Star Belgrade in 1991 and again in 1996 with Juventus. Surprisingly sold by Juventus last summer.

Zeliko Petrovic
Veteran midfielder who has been included in the World Cup squad because of his vast experience.

Newcomer to the squad whose experience of playing in Switzerland and Germany may be called upon in France.

Dragan Stojkovic
Veteran playmaker and national team captain who has never shaken off the 'nearly man' tag. France 98 will be his last shot at the big time after a career that has taken him to France, Italy and now Japan.

FORWARDS

Darko Kovacevic
Striker who has been reborn in Spain after struggling at Sheffield Wednesday. A consistent scorer during his time with Red Star Belgrade, the fact that he'll start out on the bench says a lot about the quality of his teammates.

Pedrag Mijatovic
Their main hope for goals. The scorer of the winning goal in last month's Champions League Final and Europe's leading marksman during the France 98 qualifiers. Very quick with exceptional finishing skills.

Savo Milosevic
Talented but temperamental striker who is hoping to kickstart his career in Spain after leaving Aston Villa under a cloud. Has a great international scoring record but is still likely to be just a sub in France.

Perica Ognjenovic
Promising young striker whose form for Red Star Belgrade last season earned him a surprise call-up to the squad. Tipped to move abroad after the World Cup.

Dejan Savicevic
Clever, skilful inside forward who is no longer first-choice at Milan but is still crucial to Yugoslavia's fortunes. Made his international debut in October 1986.

Dejan Stankovic
The new sensation of Yugoslav soccer who scored twice on his international debut against South Korea and will join Lazio in a multi-million pound deal after the World Cup.
